For context, a large part of my business' activity includes public speaking, i.e. delivering presentations and training sessions and participating in radio interviews and podcasts. This was a by-product of my main passion of conducting research, but obviously, those research findings need to be communicated. Public speaking was something that caused me a lot of anxiety, not only during the presentation, but in the weeks leading up to it. So much so, that it was becoming counterproductive to my time to agree to do any. I would lose sleep, spend ages fretting over tiny details of the presentation, content, etc. and generally be quite agitated.
I decided that if I was to be successful within my business and the wider industry, this couldn't continue. And so I went in search of somebody who could help me. Unfortunately, I didn't find Jules straight away and ended up having a few sessions with a public speaking coach, who just wasn't right for me. Upon meeting Jules, I knew she was 'the one'. She made me feel so comfortable in her presence and - whilst some of the sessions could be purposefully uncomfortable at times - she was great at getting to the root of the problem. I saw huge improvements in my self-confidence and presentation skills in only three-to-four sessions.
However it didn't end there. Jules helped me to make a huge life change; leaving my then full-time university role (and stable income) to deciding to go it alone with my business - and it was the best decision I've ever made. The business is flourishing and I'm much more relaxed when approached to do any public speaking.Though I'm not currently having sessions with Jules, I've enjoyed three of her retreats over the past two years and class her as a friend that I could turn to with any problem.
She's become one of the UK's top coaches in this field by following her own path to authentic confidence, as well as spending thousands of hours studying self-belief and the human brain.
